Runners taking part in the Brecon Carreg Porthcawl 10K will all receive a special discount on award-winning Welsh gin, which they can find right at the finish line.
Porthcawl Distillery, located on Eastern Promenade, is on hand to help this year’s 10K finishers celebrate their achievements by offering them 10% off when they show their race medal and race bib.
Each bottle of handcrafted gin uses locally foraged botanicals – including gorse from Porthcawl’s coastline and seaweed gathered from the town’s beaches, to help capture the essence of the Welsh coast – a perfect memento of the popular seaside event.
The distillery has established itself as one of Wales’ leading independent craft distilleries and has won accolades such as ‘Best Gin in Wales’, ‘World Gin Awards Silver Medal’, as well as ‘Start-Up Business of the Year’ and ‘Scale-Up Business Finalist’ at the Wales Food & Drink Awards. It has even been invited to 10 Downing Street for the St David’s Day Reception and appeared on the BBC programme Ruth & Steve: From Porthcawl with Love, presented by Welsh acting legends Ruth Jones and Steve Speirs, celebrating the people, places and independent businesses that make Porthcawl such a special destination.
The business continues to grow and will shortly launch its brand-new Gin Experience, giving visitors the opportunity to discover the art of distilling and create their own personalised bottle of gin.
Founded by Glenn Loosemore and Chris Leyshon, the distillery is celebrating its third anniversary this year and has come on board as an event supporter of the Brecon Carreg Porthcawl 10K.
Charity fundraising is incredibly important to the business and it has helped raise over £60,000 for local charities. Over the years Porthcawl Distillery has also donated bottles and products from its shop for fundraising raffles and auctions – and even features its chosen charity on every bottle to help raise awareness for the cause.
This year, the Porthcawl Distillery team have six runners taking part in the 2026 Brecon Carreg Porthcawl 10K to raise money for the Sandville Self Help Foundation which supports people living with life limiting and life changing conditions including Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Muscular Dystrophy (MD), Huntington’s Disease, Motor Neurone Disease (MND), Parkinson’s, Stroke, Brain Injuries, Dementia & Older People.
