Ogi is back as headline sponsor for the Porthcawl 10K for the second year, and with them a dedicated team of runners taking on the race.

Wales’ leading alternative broadband provider had a successful first year of partnership with the event in 2023. Not only did it see fantastic community engagement, but also an Ogi Jogi pop-up run from schoolchildren to raise money for a new playground – a concept that has been replicated across even more schools in the area this year.

This year’s event will see over 60 people take on the course as part of team Ogi, including Wyn Innes, Ogi’s returning champion.

Last year, the company’s Chief Financial Officer earned himself the nickname as ‘The Fastest Ogi’ after crossing the finishing line as the top Ogi team member.

When he’s not crunching numbers, Wyn enjoys getting outside and pounding the pavements whatever the weather.

“I love keeping fit and keeping going,” he said. “It’s really hard to gain back what you’ve lost when you stop.”

Wyn loves the thrill of a race, and this year he’s getting ready to defend his title against his fellow teammates, including their Junior Data Analyst, Nirmani Fonseka.

Nirmani is relatively new to running, embracing the sport over the past year.

It’s not just the physical health benefits that running brings as Nirmani says she also enjoys bonding with friends, exploring the outdoors and has found that the activity is vital to her overall wellbeing.

The Ogi Porthcawl 10K will be returning on Sunday 7 July.

The popular race, which is now a firm staple in many runners’ calendars since it was set up in 2019, is also part of the Run 4 Wales 10K Series, including events in Cardiff, Cardiff Bay and Newport.

Steve Brace, Race Director at Run 4 Wales, said: “We’re thrilled to be teaming up with Ogi once again to put on the Porthcawl 10K. Like us they value the importance of community and it’s only through support with companies like them, that these events are viable.

“This event is one of my favourites and we’re looking forward to welcoming thousands of runners to the seaside town – including the Ogi team, and we can’t wait to find out who will be crowned this year’s Fastest Ogi within their team.”
