A date has been set for the 2026 Porthcawl 10K and entries are now open.

The 2025 event was its biggest yet with more than 6,200 people registered across the 10K and junior races. It completely sold out ahead of race day and 2026 is predicted to follow suit, so runners are encouraged to secure their spot early.

Next year’s event will take place on Sunday 5 July and once again Tŷ Hafan will be its lead charity.

The children’s hospice is now looking to recruit its team of fundraisers to take part and will be offering discounted entry for those who want to join them.

James Davies-Hale, Head of Fundraising for Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice, said: “We are thrilled to be the lead charity of the 2026 Porthcawl 10K in partnership with Run 4 Wales for the second year running.

“This year we had almost 200 people take part in this event for us – the most we have ever had – and we are so incredibly grateful to them all for what they have done for us. Now we’re hoping build on this and get even more people to run for us in 2026, helping us to reach even more families.

“Tŷ Hafan’s ambition is when a child’s life will be short, no family should have to live it alone. Because of everyone who takes part in the Porthcawl 10K for us, we can walk alongside families throughout their child’s life, death, and beyond.”

Matt Newman, Chief Executive at Run 4 Wales, added: “The popular Porthcawl 10K is a favourite among runners and it was great to see our largest ever number of runners taking part this year – including the hundreds running for Tŷ Hafan.

“The atmosphere is always fantastic and we’re looking forward to coming back to the seaside town in 2026.”

General entries into the event are also open and the R4W 10K Series bundles will go on sale later this year after the Brecon Carreg CDF 10K. Runners wanting to join Tŷ Hafan’s team can enter for free until 20 July. Prices then rise to £5 until mid-February when they will then increase to £8. Those who run for Tŷ Hafan pledge to a fundraising target of £175.
