Wood Thilsted, the world-leading engineering consultancy who specialise in offshore wind developments, have been crowned the champions of the 2021 R4W Virtual Corporate Challenge.

This January, over 200 runners from 20 companies took part in our virtual 10K race, launched as an opportunity for companies to engage in some charity fundraising, corporate social responsibility and team building activity at a time when traditional mass-participation events cannot take place.

The COVID-19 pandemic has permanently altered the ways in which we all work, with many organisations experiencing a permanent shift towards a ‘hybrid office’ – with a mixture of home and office-based working. The challenge invited companies from across the UK to bring their employees together virtually at a time that team cohesion and relationship building are more important than ever.

Every team member ran the distance individually, with the fastest five team times combined to make a ‘team time’. Wood Thilsted were crowned champions with a team time of 03:28:10 and have won a £1,000 donation for their chosen charity, Renewable World.

Renewable World, a registered international non-profit organisation, works in East Africa, South Asia and Central America to tackle poverty through the provision of affordable renewable energy in remote, off-grid settings. The organisation focuses on working with the ‘poorest of the poor’, i.e. with communities who presently cannot afford or are not serviced by private energy providers, and for whom a lack of energy is a serious impediment to economic and social development.

OTHER R4W EVENTS:

Movement and exercise improve productivity in the workplace both in the office and home working environments, whilst working together towards a shared challenge or goal can improve team cohesion and foster leadership ability. At R4W we provide a number of opportunities for organisations looking to take advantage of these benefits whilst providing team-building, charity fundraising or CSR activities for their employees.
